At 450,295 square kilometers, Sweden is the third-largest country in the European Union by area, and the largest in the Nordic region. Approximately 85% of the population live in urban areas, and almost two million of the 9.8 million inhabitants live in the capital area, Stockholm.
In terms of access to education, life expectancy and living standards, Sweden is today among the top ten countries in the world. Retail turnover per m2 of sales area lies between 5,500 to 6,500 Euros and Stockholm boasts the largest shopping center in the Nordic region, Mall of Scandinavia.
Sweden is an export oriented, high-tech and well-diversified economy that ranks as one of the most competitive in the world. The biggest exports are electronics, engineering, cars, paper, iron and steel.
